It's Monday! What Are You Reading? #2

Hi bookworms!!

Welcome to another Monday on my blog! Which means that it is time for another It's Monday! What are you reading? This weekly feature is hosted by Book Date and involves talking about what you have been reading, and will be reading throughout the week!

Just Finished Reading:

I just finished reading this amazing book by Sarah J. Maas and I loved every minute. I am going to struggle waiting for the next one to be published (early next year but that is so far away!)
You can check out my review here

Reading this Week:

I am currently only 25% done with this book but of course I love it (how could I not?) I hope to be done with this one in the next couple of days, so stay tuned for my review!

It has been a while since I picked up a book by Nora Roberts so I have this one that I borrowed from a friend, so I will get into it this week! Cannot wait :)

Up Next:

Again, it has been a very long time since I picked up a Nicholas Sparks' book, and I love his writing so when I found this one in the library I got it straight away. I already know that I will love it!

I found this one in the library too, it has been on my TBR ever since I read another of her books, One Breath Away so I grabbed it as soon as I saw it. Hopefully it is as good as that one.

That is all for this week's It's Monday! What are you reading? post. Have you read any of the books mentioned in the post?? What did you think?? If you have taken part in this feature, leave me a link to yours, I would love to check it out :)

Friday Finds: The Young Elites

Hi bookworms!
I know today is Saturday, not Friday, but yesterday I was seriously swamped with work and did not get a chance to write this post, so here I am..better late than never I guess?

Anyway, lets get down to business..
Friday Finds is a weekly feature brought to you by Jenn over at A Daily Rhythm and it involves talking about a book (or series in the case of today's post) that you have recently 'discovered' and added to your shelf or TBR.

This week's find is:

The Young Elites series by Marie Lu. I have known about this series for a while now, I have seen people feature the books on their bookstagrams as well as posts on their blogs. But as I have only really just started getting into the world of fantasy I have only just read what the books are about and decided that they sound awesome and I really want to read them! They have therefore been added to my Goodreads "To-Read" shelf and hopefully ill get to read them soon!

The Young ElitesGoodreads || Book Depository || Amazon
The Rose Society: Goodreads || Book Depository || Amazon
The Midnight Star: Goodreads || Book Depository || Amazon

Has anyone read these books?? What did you think of them?? I would love to hear your thoughts on the series in the comments below! Also leave me a link to your own Friday Finds posts so I can go and have a look at the books that you have discovered this week :)

Thanks for popping in and reading this week's Friday Finds! Until next time, happy reading!

Book Review: A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas (Spoiler Free)

Title: A Court of Mist and Fury
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Published: May 2016 by Bloomsbury
Genre: Fantasy; Young Adult; Romance
Links: Goodreads || Book Depository || Amazon
Series: A Court of Thorns and Roses #2
Format: Paperback
Source: Borrowed from Library (will be purchasing!)
Goodreads' Rating: 4.74 / 5 stars
My Rating: 🔺🔺🔺🔺🔺
Goodreads' Synopsis:
Feyre is immortal.
After rescuing her lover Tamlin from the wicked Faerie Queen, she returns to the Spring Court possessing the powers of the High Fae. But Feyre cannot forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin's people - nor the bargain she made with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court.
As Feyre is drawn ever deeper into Rhysand's dark web of politics and passion, war is looming and an evil far greater than any queen threatens to destroy everything Feyre has fought for. She must confront her past, embrace her gifts and decide her fate.
She must surrender her heart to heal a world torn in two.

Book Review:

This book! Where do I even start?? I don't think anything I write will do this book justice. From start to finish I was hooked, by the last handful of chapters I was on the edge of my seat and my heart was racing!
We follow Feyre once again as she is plagued with guilt about what she needed to do Under The Mountain to save Tamlin and the Fae population. She has nightmares and is generally unhappy, the more she tries to heal, the worse she feels. Even though she knows it was for the greater good, she needs to keep reminding herself that she is safe.
Then there is the deal that she struck with Rhysand, the High Lord of the Night Court, in order to stay alive. She is to be a guest in his home for one week every month.

I don't want to give anything away for those who haven't read it or who haven't finished it.

What I will say is that my opinion of certain characters changed throughout the book which I wasn't expecting, but I was so very happy about it! I was itching for Feyre and Rhysand to fall in love..(the inner romantic coming through I know!) their chemistry was just so real and easy and you just knew that they had to be together!
As Feyre learned to use her powers and become a fighter, thanks to Rhysand and his inner circle, she began to become herself again.
THE ENDING!! OH. MY. GOD!
I didn't want it to end where it did! I have so many questions and I have to wait until MARCH to get the answers! I don't think I can survive that long! What am I going to do!

I need to discuss this book with fellow lovers out there! Leave a comment and let's chat..I am not quite ready to leave Prythian behind just yet!

Thanks for reading my review of A Court of Mist and Fury I hope you enjoyed it. If you have not read this series, you need to go out and buy the books now and read them! But be warned for heartbreak when you get to the end and need to wait for the next one (why so long Sarah???)
Until next time, happy reading!

About the Author:

Sarah lives in Bucks County, PA, and over the years she has developed an unhealthy appreciation for Disney movies and bad pop music. She adores fairy tales and ballet, drinks too much tea, and watches an ungodly amount of TV. When she is not busy writing, she can be found exploring the historic and beautiful Pennsylvania countryside with her husband and canine companion. (Goodreads)

WWW Wednesday

Hi there bookworms!

Today is Wednesday and therefore it is time for WWW Wednesday which is a weekly feature hosted by Sam over at Taking on a World of Words. In this feature we are to answer three questions:

  1. What are we currently reading?
  2. What did we most recently finish reading?
  3. What are we going to read next?

What I am Currently Reading!

I am 70% done with A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas and I am LOVING it! I will be sad to finish it, seeing as we have to wait until March for the third book in the series to come out. But I hope to continue with her other series, Throne of Glass while I am waiting patiently for it to be published!

Has anyone else read this?? What did you think of it?? Leave me a comment, I would love to chat with you about it :)

Goodreads \\ Amazon \\ Book Depository

What did I Recently Finish Reading?

Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult was the most amazing book and I loved every minute of it. I went to a her book signing and got to meet her and it was the most amazing experience. I HIGHLY recommend this book, it really opens your eyes to racist and what it means to be a person of colour in America as well as how things that white people say and do can hurt a person, even if we don't mean to.

Who has read/wants to read this one?? Let's chat in the box below!

What am I Going to Read Next?

I know that by this time in my life I should have read the Harry Potter series many times by now..but no, this will be the first time reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, which of course is the second book in the amazing series. I am super excited to start it!

I am sure the entire world has read this! If so, let's chat..leave a comment in the box below!

Thanks for stopping by and reading my WWW Wednesday post! I hope you enjoyed it! Leave me a comment below to discuss the post, or any of the books that I have mentioned. Or, if you have written a similar post this week leave me a link so I can check it out!

From the Printer (21.11.16-27.11.16)

Hey there bookworms!

This post is a weekly feature that I began doing over on my other book blog (www.booksarelove22.wordpress.com) so I thought I would do it here too! It is a post in which I talk about the books that are going to be released in the coming week! So here we go :)

Title: Moonglow
Author: Michael Chabon
Publishing: November 22 by Harper
Links: Goodreads || Book Depository || Amazon
Goodreads' Synopsis:
Moonglow unfolds as the deathbed confession, made to his grandson, of a man the narrator refers to only as “my grandfather.” It is a tale of madness, of war and adventure, of sex and desire and ordinary love, of existential doubt and model rocketry, of the shining aspirations and demonic underpinnings of American technological accomplishment at mid-century and, above all, of the destructive impact—and the creative power—of the keeping of secrets and the telling of lies. A gripping, poignant, tragicomic, scrupulously researched and wholly imaginary transcript of a life that spanned the dark heart of the twentieth century, Moonglow is also a tour de force of speculative history in which Chabon attempts to reconstruct the mysterious origins and fate of Chabon Scientific, Co., an authentic mail-order novelty company whose ads for scale models of human skeletons, combustion engines and space rockets were once a fixture in the back pages of Esquire, Popular Mechanics, and Boy’s Life. Along the way Chabon devises and reveals, in bits and pieces whose hallucinatory intensity is matched only by their comic vigor and the radiant moonglow of his prose, a secret history of his own imagination.

Title: I'll Take You There
Author: Wally Lamb
Publishing: November 22 by Harper
Goodreads' Synopsis:
I’ll Take You There centers on Felix, a film scholar who runs a Monday night movie club in what was once a vaudeville theater. One evening, while setting up a film in the projectionist booth, he’s confronted by the ghost of Lois Weber, a trailblazing motion picture director from Hollywood’s silent film era. Lois invites Felix to revisit—and in some cases relive—scenes from his past as they are projected onto the cinema’s big screen.

In these magical movies, the medium of film becomes the lens for Felix to reflect on the women who profoundly impacted his life. There’s his daughter Aliza, a Gen Y writer for New York Magazine who is trying to align her post-modern feminist beliefs with her lofty career ambitions; his sister, Frances, with whom he once shared a complicated bond of kindness and cruelty; and Verna, a fiery would-be contender for the 1951 Miss Rheingold competition, a beauty contest sponsored by a Brooklyn-based beer manufacturer that became a marketing phenomenon for two decades. At first unnerved by these ethereal apparitions, Felix comes to look forward to his encounters with Lois, who is later joined by the spirits of other celluloid muses.
Against the backdrop of a kaleidoscopic convergence of politics and pop culture, family secrets, and Hollywood iconography, Felix gains an enlightened understanding of the pressures and trials of the women closest to him, and of the feminine ideals and feminist realities that all women, of every era, must face

Title: Victoria
Author: Daisy Goodwin
Publishing: November 22 by St Martin's Press
Goodreads' Synopsis:
In 1837, less than a month after her eighteenth birthday, Alexandrina Victoria – sheltered, small in stature, and female – became Queen of Great Britain and Ireland. Many thought it was preposterous: Alexandrina — Drina to her family — had always been tightly controlled by her mother and her household, and was surely too unprepossessing to hold the throne. Yet from the moment William IV died, the young Queen startled everyone: abandoning her hated first name in favor of Victoria; insisting, for the first time in her life, on sleeping in a room apart from her mother; resolute about meeting with her ministers alone.

One of those ministers, Lord Melbourne, became Victoria’s private secretary. Perhaps he might have become more than that, except everyone argued she was destined to marry her cousin, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. But Victoria had met Albert as a child and found him stiff and critical: surely the last man she would want for a husband….
Drawing on Victoria’s diaries as well as her own brilliant gifts for history and drama, Daisy Goodwin, author of the bestselling novels The American Heiress and The Fortune Hunter as well as creator and writer of the new PBS/Masterpiece drama Victoria, brings the young queen even more richly to life in this magnificent novel.

Thank you for popping in to read about the new books being published this week in From the Printer. I think the only one of those that I would think about adding to my TBR would be Victoria by Daisy Goodwin the other two books don't really sound like my kind of thing. What about you guys? Which one are you most looking forward to reading?? Let me know in the comments box!
Until next time, happy reading!

Title: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Author: J. K. Rowling
Series: Harry Potter #2
Goodreads' Synopsis:
The Dursleys were so mean and hideous that summer that all Harry Potter wanted was to get back to the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. But just as he's packing his bags, Harry receives a warning from a strange, impish creature named Dobby who says that if Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts, disaster will strike. And strike it does. For in Harry's second year at Hogwarts, fresh torments and horrors arise, including an outrageously stuck-up new professor, Gilderoy Lockhart, a spirit named Moaning Myrtle who haunts the girls' bathroom, and the unwanted attentions of Ron Weasley's younger sister, Ginny. But each of these seem minor annoyances when the real trouble begins, and someone, or something, starts turning Hogwarts students to stone. Could it be Draco Malfoy, a more poisonous rival than ever? Could it possibly be Hagrid, whose mysterious past is finally told? Or could it be the one everyone at Hogwarts most suspects: Harry Potter himself?
